Customer acquisition is a crucial driver of growth, but far too often, businesses overlook the reality that loyalty is what turns the initial transaction into momentum for more revenue. Retaining customers who continue to engage with your brand and make repeat purchases creates a sustainable engine for long-term growth. At Coda, we work with publishers to build loyalty programs that do more than reward – loyalty programs convert, scale, and grow value across your entire store, whether through Codashop or your own D2C webstore built with Instant Commerce or Custom Commerce.

Turn Loyalty Into Long-Term Revenue

The data speaks for itself. Our internal data shows that loyalty redeemers (customers who actively redeem their points):

  • Spend 2x more after their first redemption.
  • Consistently return to the store to make purchases, with higher retention than non-redeemers.
  • Drive higher ARPU, with non-redeemers performing 143% lower.
Chart: After their first redemption, users are more likely to return and spend more on average.

A large portion of players in any free-to-play game would not spend any money on the game. Converting even a fraction into paying customers has a huge impact. Bumping loyalty redeemers by just 20% could double the monthly TPV.

What loyalty looks like, the Coda way

1. Making Loyalty Work Harder

Coda has rolled out several successful initiatives to encourage more active point redemption, including:

  • Nudging Repeat Buyers: Timely emails remind users to redeem points before they forget.
  • Creating Urgency: Disappearing SKUs drive faster redemption decisions.
  • Refreshing Loyalty SKUs: Regularly updating and refreshing existing loyalty SKUs make them more appealing and relevant. New SKUs now make up 3 of the top 5 sellers, contributing over 30,000 new buyers and up to 75% of store revenue.

2. Turning Players into Payers

Not all players start as payers. But the right moment makes all the difference. With a sizable free-to-play player base, Coda has been exploring conversion strategies. One of the most effective has been upselling directly after a free gift claim. By offering paid SKUs directly after a free gift claim, we’ve seen a 10% uplift in transactions—a simple but powerful nudge that brings users deeper into the monetization funnel.

3. Creating Experiences Users Return to

Loyalty starts with a seamless user experience. That’s why we’re always investing in:

  • Fast Loading Times
  • Optimized User Interface
  • Improved Error Handling
  • Real-time Insights
  • Customer Support
  • Ease of Payment via Subscriptions/Recurring Payments

The result? More engagement, higher retention, and loyalty that scales.

The Coda Effect

Our loyalty experiments are already unlocking 10–12% growth in transactions per feature, and we’re just getting started. By combining data-driven strategies with a deep understanding of user behavior, Coda will continue to optimize loyalty as a core driver of growth. We pride ourselves on creating value for both publishers and end-users, boosting engagement, unlocking revenue gains, and building lasting customer relationships.
